The best AI voice detectors for checking a call or clip (October 2026)

For most families, AI Voice Detector is the simplest way to check a voicemail or voice note you already have: its free plan covers 50 checks a month with no card. For a warning during a live call, Hiya's phone app flags AI voices on incoming calls, and businesses look at Pindrop Pulse or Reality Defender.

Common questions
Are AI voice detectors accurate?
They are useful but not perfect. Every detector can mark a real voice as AI or miss a cloned one, especially on short or noisy clips. Treat a result as one piece of evidence, never as proof.
Can I check a voicemail on my phone?
Usually yes. Save or share the voicemail as an audio file, then upload it to a detector that checks files. Some phone apps let you share a voice note straight to them.
Is it safe to upload a recording to a free detector?
Read the privacy policy first. Some free tools keep uploads or use them to improve their systems. If the recording includes private details, choose a tool that says it deletes files after checking.
Can a detector check a live call?
Live call checks are mostly built for businesses such as banks and call centres. For a personal call, the best check is still to hang up and call the person back on a number you know.
Should I trust a result that says the voice is human?
No result should make you send money on a call you did not expect. A human result does not mean the caller is who they say they are. Real people run scams too.
What should I do if a detector says a clip is AI?
Keep the recording and note the date, time and number. Do not reply to the caller. Report it to the police and your fraud reporting service, and warn the person whose voice was copied.
